IoT or the Internet of things is a physical object or a group of objects that are digitally connected to the world in a wireless network using the internet. It builds the communication between these devices for real-time data without human involvement.

It is the process to incorporate AI and sensors into devices that can provide information of their operations and can take up the information of other devices. With the advantage of finding chips at a lower price people have started to build new products to make life simpler using IoT and embedded systems

IoT applications are nowadays used to simplify and improve different technologies. To begin with, the list, wearables, and health devices are in great demand in the market. The wearables can track different parameters of health and would give an alert in case of any deterioration.

With these devices, one can keep a track of their health and the doctors can also use the devices to monitor their patients. Next is transportation, there are maps and other applications that can keep the track of the traffic and the fleet.

The other IoT applications include the management of software and hospitality. This means that the IoT applications can be used to maintain the management of different software that can be specified to an organization.

For example, it can be used for a water supply project or agriculture. Also for hospitality these days smart keys are used where the guests can operate the keep with their mobiles. These are some of the applications that are used in day-to-day life that involve IoT and embedded systems.

IoT consists of different elements out of which IoT devices and IoT gateways are known as embedded systems. An Embedded system is a system that consists of both software and hardware that are customized or designed to complete a specific task.

The Embedded System technology works using microprocessors, ASIC, FPGA, GPU technologies, and gateways dedicated to a task. Embedded system applications include different systems that are used in automobiles like motor control, body and engine safety, multimedia in cars, etc. also systems that are used in communication, smart card, missiles, satellites, computer networking, and electronics.

Though IoT and embedded systems may seem to be the same thing, there lies a huge difference between them. To understand it clearly it can be said that IoT is that embedded system that connects to the internet.

For example, the embedded system technology creates projects that are small and are not subject to changes while the projects created using IOT are long and are subject to frequent changes. Hence it can also be said that IoT is complex and involves security and privacy concerns.

Since it can be concluded that IOT can be derived from embedded systems there lies a procedure where IOT can be merged into the embedded system. By doing this one can create a smart device. At the very beginning, the type of microprocessor that is used in the system should be known to the user.

Next, the controller should be selected in such a way so that it can support ethernet. The next step would be to select ethernet devices. There are various types of Ethernet devices that one can find but one needs to make sure that the ethernet device should support the microprocessor that is being used.

On completion of the selection processor, the library should be installed and built by the controller and the device will be ready for an IoT application demonstration. Finally one needs to develop and replace the in-built webpage so that they can access their webpage and assign a public IP address followed by some port forwarding and then the application and the device from anywhere they want.

If someone is trying to connect the IoT for the first time the best device to be used is an Arduino. It is also known as the best DIY board as it is easy to incorporate all the necessary changes and create a proper design to make a device that will surely be able to do some tasks. You can also make an autonomous robot if you want!
